Ps…I could never get my head around it being a navy base, but had planes, not ships. It’s a gorgeous place to visit btw, if anyone is interested in going.

I'm a VERY PROUD mom of an RSS! I'm still a tad "dumb" on some terms. Is this Romeo or Sierra? I like to be well-informed when sharing videos. This is an incredible video and I'm so thankful you made it! I just wan't sure since there's no "R" or "S" behind the helo name. Due to seeing land/sea when shooting I am guessing Romeo?? You're a hero and we pray for our military all the time! Thank you for everything you do!
HSC is sea combat squadron. usually consisting of AWS/AWR. they both have relatively the same tasks, romeos just hunt subs
@@logannorthern2804 that was almost 3 years ago when I asked that. I’ve learned a lot the last 3 1/2 years. But thank you. And Romeos do far more than “just hunt subs”. 💙

Crossrate to diver or this ? Any recommendations. Not saying I’m capable of passing neither, but im willing to work my ass off .
Diver or any spec war is tough. I’m trying to earn my EOD contract at the moment. When I swore in I chose AIRC, you are required to pick a backup when going through the warrior challenge program. when picking my backup I asked for a job that would be one of the most physically demanding. Both are great!

@@patriotsatny Yes Im in Nas Pensacola Aircrew its a lot different from the civilian life. Ive made lots of great friends but a lot of running and swimming training, being well disiplined and we have lots of fun things to do on base!
Mark Mendoza Which rate within aircrewman ? Also which one ensures less ship time and more base time
@@patriotsatny When you graduate you will be given a rate, AWF AWS AWO AWR etc. If youre Air Rescue (which requires more swim training and more schooling) you will most likely see ships time to time. Basic Aircrewman like myself may end up working with planes and if im lucky helios and we most likely never see a ship.

AWR - Aircrewman Romeo, AWS - Aircrewman Sierra. You can google what each rating specifically does. Generally, Sierra's are considered more "badass" with what they do.

I know that most of the AW live on the ship but do the SAR live on the ship??

Cookie Crumbs if you’re aircrew you’re part of an aviation squadron. You’ll do deployments on ship but squadrons are all land based. You’ll only live on board when deployed
I have a serious question what is the difference between the Navy & Coast Guard Rescue Swimmer ?
Jesus R. Perez Navy for anywhere in the world to go rescue our troops or any American citizen outside the motherland. Coast guard for any inside mission inside the motherland!
I agree as a rescue swimmer (8215) and Utility aircrewman (8216) my rescues were all overseas in open water miles and miles from any land. Jumped out many times and then moved up to the crewchief position and ran the hoist and controlled the swimmer insertions. Fun both ways

Can I do this if I wear glasses? With glasses I see 20/20 so will I need to wear contacts or is it fine if I wear glasses under the goggles?
Erin Freund contacts are optimal. Glasses are just an extra thing to worry about
I have a lot of friends who wear glasses doing this.
The last comment. That was like 25 feet lol. I had a crewchief say clear for forward flight and jumped from like 25 feet 20knots I think I skipped when I got the water lol

How do one become a Naval SAR Air Crewman? What does my ASVAB scores have to be? Whats the training like? Whats the qualifications?
iDealNinja my asvab score was 82% and i qualified and signed a contract for this job yesterday. i think you have to have a pretty outstanding score to qualify.

Have a good- medium pt test then they teach you the rest but you have to be good at swimming or train in swimming

It's UNDES airman. So ur in the airman rates path but u have no rate. You'll have to strike a rate. I was UNDES Fireman. Did u make it after all?
